Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the appointment of Chris Harr to the Advisory Committee on Polysomnography

BATON ROUGE– Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Chris Harr to the Advisory Committee on Polysomnography.

The Advisory Committee on Polysomnography serves to assist the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in all matters relating to polysomnography.

According to statute, the committee is comprised of nine gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. Four registered and licensed polysomnographic technologists and one member active in the field of sleep medicine are selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana Academy of Sleep Medicine. Three licensed physicians, of whom two must be diplomats of the American Board of Sleep Medicine and one must be active in the field of sleep medicine, are selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana State Medical Society. The remaining member must be a hospital administrator selected from nominations submitted by the Louisiana State Hospital Association.

Chris Harr, of Baton Rouge, is the Technical Director at Premier Sleep Medicine Center. Harr will be appointed to serve as a registered and licensed polysomnographic technologist active in the field of polysomnography nominated by the Louisiana State Medical Society, as required by statute.

Dr. Matt Abraham, Technical Director Chris Harr, LRSPGT, and Tech Jodi Sorenson gave lectures at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in the Nottoway Conference Room for the ENT Residents and medical students. Topics covered were an introduction to Polysomnography and Cardiovascular implications of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

President of the Louisiana Academy of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Mark McCarthy, kicks off the annual Sleep Conference at the LSU Lod Cook Alumni Center. This 2 day event includes speakers from all over the state. Dr. Mark McCarthy gave a lecture on Pulmonary System Review, Technical Director Chris Harr spoke on CPAP Titration Guidelines, and finally Dr. Joseph Bordelon spoke during a round table lunch on Medicare/ PSG licensure and Advisory Board Update.
